VA Woman Victim Of Hyundai Stealing TikTok Challenge: Report

A Fairfax County woman learned about a dangerous social media trend the hard way, after her own car was stolen, reports NBC 4.

The rideshare driver, known only as Miriam, had her source of income flipped upside down after her vehicle became the latest target in a popular trend going across social media. The trend teaches people how to steal certain models of Kia and Hyundai vehicles without a key. The ignition design on the vehicles makes the vehicles an easy target for thieves, the outlet continues.

The design of the vehicles has become such a problem that Hyundai is reportedly selling an aftermarket security kit to drivers, and both companies have promised to update a software to include theft-prevention that should reportedly be available later this year.
